The Graduate, Good News From The United Kingdom
Known for their high level of quality education, international student community and cool climate, the United Kingdom (UK) provides excellent opportunities for Indian students.
Every year, the UK offers thousands of study visas to international students. After graduation, many students wish to remain in the country and to make this possible the UK provides The Graduate Route.
The Graduate Route allows international students who have been awarded their degree qualifications to remain in the country and search for employment opportunities. Master’s graduates can work for up to two years and PhD graduates can work for up to three years.
The Graduate Route offered by the UK is heartily welcomed by Indian students currently studying in the UK. While some visas require you to have a job offer letter before you apply for a visa, The Graduate Route does not require you to have a job offer letter when applying. This will allow graduates to work flexibly in the country and change jobs as often as they desire. This will also give graduates an opportunity to gain international experience and build their careers abroad.
Due to the recent global health pandemic, Covid-19, now applicants for The Graduate Route can apply online and an eVisa will issued to all successful applicants. Interested students can apply via the official gov.uk website. Students can use the UK Immigration ID Check app to verify their identification. This can only be possible if you are already in possession of your Biometric Residence Card or Permit. These documents would have been made available to you when you applied for your Student Visa at the beginning of your studies and before your arrival to the UK.
The Graduate Route visa is not free. Students who are interested in this application must pay £700 plus the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). The IHS will give you access to the country’s health service; and will allow you to enjoy the same health benefits as the permanent residents of the country. This cost for the IHS is £624 per year.
Remember that when you are granted an eVisa under The Graduate Route, you are allowed to study, however you cannot study with a student sponsor that meets the requirements of a student visa. You also cannot study at a state/government school. This eVisa does not allow you to bring in new dependents to the country. If you find a permanent job in the UK, you can switch to a different work visa.
Indian students studying in the UK can now explore post study work opportunities and kick start their international careers.
At Maven Consulting Services, we are delighted with the process of The Graduate Route. We encourage students to follow the due process when applying for their desired eVisa and wish them a successful career ahead.
